Prescription Orthotic Therapy
Custom Orthotics, Built Just For You
At RGV Foot & Ankle Institute, every pair of orthotics we prescribe is the result of a detailed biomechanical assessment and a high-resolution 3D scan of your feet. Dr. Galvan and his team design your devices to address the exact mechanical cause of your pain — never a one-size-fits-all insole.
Custom orthotics can resolve a wide range of issues, including plantar fasciitis, heel pain, flat feet, knee and hip pain, lower back pain, shin splints, diabetic pressure points, and sports-related overuse injuries.
We treat patients of every age and activity level — from children with developing feet to high school and college athletes, weekend runners, ranch workers, teachers on their feet all day, and retirees across the Rio Grande Valley.

FAQ
Common Questions About Custom Orthotics
What's the difference between custom orthotics and store-bought insoles?+
Store-bought insoles are generic cushioning — they don't correct biomechanical problems. Custom orthotics are prescription medical devices designed from a 3D scan of your feet to address your specific issues, alignment, and activity level.
How long do custom orthotics last?+
With normal daily wear, most custom orthotics last 3 to 5 years. The top cover may need refurbishing sooner depending on use. Athletic orthotics in heavy training may need replacement closer to the 3-year mark.
Will they fit in all my shoes?+
We design your orthotics around the footwear you actually use. We offer full-length, three-quarter, and dress-shoe variations so you can move them between work shoes, runners, boots, and casual footwear.
How long until I feel relief?+
Many patients feel a difference within the first one to two weeks. We recommend a short break-in period — wearing them a few hours per day at first — before transitioning to all-day use.
Are custom orthotics covered by insurance?+
Many insurance plans, as well as HSA and FSA accounts, cover all or part of custom orthotics when medically prescribed. Our front desk in McAllen will verify your benefits before treatment.
Do you make orthotics for children and athletes?+
Yes. We prescribe pediatric orthotics for developmental concerns like flat feet and Sever's disease, and we make sport-specific orthotics for runners, golfers, soccer, baseball, and other athletes across the Rio Grande Valley.
